AI Integrity Report Disclaimer

Effective July 24, 2026

Proctorly may use automated tools and AI-assisted features to help summarize exam-monitoring information and generate integrity reports.

These reports are designed to support educator review. They are not final decisions.

1. Advisory Only

Proctorly flags and AI-generated integrity reports are advisory only.

They are not conclusive proof of:

  1. cheating;
  2. academic misconduct;
  3. identity fraud;
  4. dishonesty;
  5. policy violation;
  6. attempted circumvention;
  7. student intent.

A flagged event may have an innocent explanation. For example, a flag may be caused by technical issues, accessibility needs, device limitations, environmental distractions, browser behavior, lighting, internet problems, or other circumstances.

2. No Automatic Discipline

Proctorly does not:

  1. fail students;
  2. grade students;
  3. discipline students;
  4. suspend students;
  5. accuse students of misconduct;
  6. make final academic-integrity decisions;
  7. make final identity-verification decisions;
  8. determine whether a student violated school policy.

Educators and institutions are responsible for all academic, disciplinary, grading, and policy decisions.

3. Human Review Required

Before taking any action based on Proctorly information, educators and institutions should independently review:

  1. the flagged event;
  2. timestamps;
  3. snapshots;
  4. short clips, if available;
  5. session context;
  6. teacher notes;
  7. student explanations;
  8. technical limitations;
  9. accessibility or accommodation issues;
  10. applicable school policies;
  11. any required appeal or review process.

4. False Positives and False Negatives

Proctorly may produce false positives and false negatives.

A false positive means Proctorly may flag conduct that was not misconduct.

A false negative means Proctorly may fail to flag conduct that may have been misconduct.

The absence of a flag does not prove that an exam session had no integrity concerns.

5. AI Limitations

AI-generated reports may be inaccurate, incomplete, biased, outdated, or misleading. They may summarize limited information and may not include all relevant facts.

AI reports should not be used as the only basis for any adverse student decision.

6. Educator and School Responsibility

Educators and institutions are responsible for:

  1. reviewing Proctorly information carefully;
  2. following their own academic-integrity policies;
  3. complying with student privacy laws;
  4. providing required notices and consents;
  5. considering accessibility and accommodation needs;
  6. giving students any required opportunity to explain or appeal;
  7. making final decisions independently.
